It can be challenging to make sense of these benefit programs, each of which has its own eligibility requirements.

There are several programs and organizations that offer free assistance with applying for benefits and sorting out your choices of health insurance through Medicare and Medicaid.  Some are web-based, while others provide one-on-one personal counseling, so you can choose whatever works best for you.

 

Dodge County

  • Elder Benefit Specialist  - Provides accurate and current information on your benefits, suggests alternative actions that you can take to secure benefits or appeal denials of benefits, advocates on your behalf with other parties, explains what legal action or other possible solution is required, and refer you to an appropriate attorney when necessary.

  • ACCESS helps with getting health care coverage, paying for groceries or child care costs, finding a job, or building your career skills.  With ACCESS, you can apply for and manage your state of Wisconsin benefits and programs in one place at any time.

     

Online Resources

  • Benefits.gov s the official benefits website of the U.S. government which Informs citizens of federal benefits they may be eligible for and provides information on how to apply for assistance.  You can complete a confidential form to determine eligibility; or browse information about programs in topic areas, including food and nutrition; housing; Social Security; unemployment.
  • Benefits Check Up is an online resource provided by the National Council on Aging that can help you determine your eligibility for benefits.
  • Health Insurance Marketplace provides a new way to buy health insurance.  The Marketplace lets you ee available options; decide what fits your needs and budget.; apply for coverage; and determine if you qualify for a federal tax subsidy
